A personalized bar sign is the piece that gets shown to every guest, which is why it is worth getting the material right before the wording. There are three real options for a home bar, and they suit different rooms. I make two of them, and I will tell you when the third is the better choice.
Wood: for bourbon shelves, brick and dark cabinets
Wood is the right call if the bar has dark wood, exposed brick, a whiskey shelf or any pub feel. Three options from our workshop, all solid wood and made to order:

Metal: for a cleaner bar that is not flashy
If the bar is black cabinets, a stone counter and not much rustic texture, a metal sign sits better than wood. Our home bar metal sign (69.90 dollars) is the address-plaque format with the family name, and the metal monograms work as a single-letter statement piece behind the bottles.
LED neon: for a modern or sports bar, and not something we make
If the room has LEDs, a big screen and modern stools, a custom LED neon sign is the better wow factor and we do not make them. Buy from a dedicated neon maker and check three things: that it is LED neon on an acrylic backing rather than glass, that it comes with a dimmer, and where the plug will sit, because a visible cord behind a bar is hard to hide.
Size and placement behind the bar
Behind a bar, 23 by 10 inches is the minimum; it is our standard size and the smallest that does not look like an afterthought. If the sign is the focal point of the back wall, go to 30 inches or wider. Mount it above the bottle line so it is not blocked by the tallest bottle, and check the wall for a stud or use anchors, since a wide solid wood sign is heavier than it looks.
Wording that does not go stale
The formats that work: The Miller Bar, Miller's Tavern, The Miller Lounge, Miller Speakeasy, or just the family name with Est. 2026. Watch the apostrophe; Millers Tavern and Miller's Tavern are both defensible but you have to pick one. Long jokes age fast on a sign you look at every day.
